BARCELONA~~ Here I come!!

Will be leaving for Barcelona, Spain in 12 hours time!

Can't wait for the excellent Spanish food, works of Gaudi, warmer weather and cute Spanish guys...

They'd rather throw it away

The caterers at our halls are MEAN.... except this guy who works on the weekends though.

Anyway, today at breakfast, we saw there were lots of leftover pastries and the caterers were already packing up all the food. So we thought we'd ask them whether we could have more of the pastries to have for lunch, since they usually throw away the food.

My friend asked: "Are you going to throw away the food? If yes, could we have them instead?" The evil lady just said: "NO, you already had your share. " and just turned and walked off....

F*** them.

I hate good byes

The first term is FINALLY over... I have been looking forward to the holidays for several weeks, but now its here, I feel I'd rather it still be term time..

The reason? Most of my friends are going back home for Christmas. Today, I saw two of my friends off and most of them will leave by Sunday... I feel sooo lonely already!

The usual chaotic, noisy and crazy atmosphere of Nutford will be gone during the holidays and I will not be looking forward to it...

Well, at least I can look forward to my trip to Barcelona~~

Winter Wonderland @ Hyde Park

There is some kind of temporary amusement park at Hyde Park, so we dropped in after dinner to check it out, since it is so near to our place.

There was an ice skating rink, but none of us went for it because it was really crowded inside and it cost 12pounds. Plus, I really don't want to fall in front of so many people. Instead, we stood outside the rink and laughed at people that fell on their butts... HEHEHE

Our prize of the day! Early Christmas present huh. We finished the whole bottle there and then.

No one in our team knew how to pop the champagne, so the quiz master did it for us. Thanks!

My room mate, Durgha, and her team won the 3rd prize! A box of chocolates!

Guess what we did after that. We went to Mel's room to do some face painting!

That was one heck of a night.

Finally! My first art gallery~~

Just came back from Tate. They open till 10pm every first Friday of the month, AND they give half price tickets for the ongoing exhibitions. This month's was the artworks of Francis Bacon. The normal student price was 10.40 quid, but for today only, we got in for 5.20q. Not bad huh?

Hmm... How should I describe Francis Bacon's art? It was definitely odd, gross, nightmarish, powerful, depressing(maybe)... Loads of screaming and gaping mouths, as if they were in terrible agony. Distorted human depiction ( Male nudity in particular)... Dark and sombre colors... Here are a few of his works I got off the net:

I think you can now imagine the entire atmosphere and mood of the exhibition.

After the exhibition, we spent an hour or so at the galleries which were free of charge. I certainly enjoyed the paintings there... There was a particular painting of a family on the hills, dancing in the sunset. It took my breath away.... I was totally mesmerized by the colours of the sky, all the red, yellow, and orange hues~~ I hope one day, I will be able to witness a sunset like that.

Don't ask me, I have no idea why its there. Looks like a mouse's skeleton sitting behind a gold machine gun. Randomness....

A close friend of mine, Lai Sim, will be leaving for New Zealand soon for a month long student exchange program.
